Tips for Exterior Paint
Inspect the Surface: Before winter arrives, thoroughly inspect the exterior walls for cracks, peeling, or areas where the paint is faded. Repairing these issues now will prevent them from worsening due to cold, moisture, and frost.
Clean the Surfaces: Exterior walls can accumulate dust, mold, or algae over time. Clean the surface with a pressure washer or a mixture of water and mild soap. This will help the existing paint hold up better during the winter months.
Apply a Sealant: If the paint is a few years old, consider applying a clear sealant to protect it from moisture and cold. This is especially important if you live in an area where rain, snow, or ice are common.
Protect Vulnerable Areas: Doors, windows, and other exterior trim are more susceptible to damage from moisture and cold. Make sure these areas are well-sealed, and if necessary, repaint them with weather-resistant paint before the cold sets in.
